Hi Coquitlam Cohousing supporters and members,
Thank you for your interest in Coquitlam Cohousing. We are thrilled to find a location that is perfect for cohousing in the Port Moody / Tri Cities area.
Our core community of potential future members has been growing and there are now 5 households reporting a high level of commitment to the project, which is 1/3 of what we need to go ahead after just under a month of communication about this project.
We have a blitz of activity planned for this weekend. On Sept 10 from 3pm to 4pm at the Coquitlam Public Library, 1169 Pinetree Way, we will have an in-person presentation followed by a Q&A. To help us track numbers, please RSVP to https://calendly.com/
On Sept 10, we are also touring two completed cohousing projects, and on Sept 11, we tour another one. Details are below for these tours, and please respond individually to each of these events. Tours are an excellent opportunity to see how built architecture can support an intentional community’s needs, creating opportunities for significant events as well as the dozens of smaller unplanned interactions that occur along the way.
Cohousing offers much more community than other stratas.
You not only greet your neighbors, you know your neighbors.
Together, you create a true community with people of all ages and backgrounds.
From the energy of youth to the wisdom of elders, everyone is enriched.
Village living in the 21st century
Large Common House for entertaining, community dinners, events and personal growth activities.
Aging in place with people of all ages.
Families have more connection and support.
Enhances physical, mental and social health.
A better way of life, created in Europe, recreated for BC
We’ve found a wonderful urban site at 1138 Falcon Drive in Coquitlam in a beautiful neighborhood, walkable to skytrain, shopping, parks and schools. Your interest will help secure the land in October, and then we will quickly move to design and develop Coquitlam Cohousing, all the while building an intentional community of like minded people to live there.
Early participation in Coquitlam Cohousing will secure your choice of apartment within the complex, and you’ll have input into the standard floor plans and character of the community. Most importantly, you’ll develop lifelong relationships with other people who want to live in a friendly and active place, and feel the connection and security of trustworthy and caring neighbors. Cohousing communities thrive with shared meals a few times per week, which reliably transforms into regular celebrations, activities and outings for the community.
Coquitlam Cohousing will have typical owned apartments that have all the same amenities including a kitchen, living room, dining room, bathrooms, laundry, and bedrooms. The difference is in the architecture and more common space that enables more interaction between neighbors, as well as an intentional community aspect that attracts like minded people to live near each other. The privacy you need with the level of community that you choose.
We would love the opportunity to talk to you more about cohousing, and answer some of your questions. We trust that support will appear for this project, and that each household or individual will participate on a timeframe that works for them.
We have information about us online, and are available for contact by phone and email, at in-person presentations, in scheduled zoom presentations, and cohousing tours. Here are our upcoming scheduled events.
